Get outdoors at Rye Beach and Pulpit Rock. Your inner history buff will appreciate Cape Schanck Lighthouse and Fort Nepean. Change things up with these side-trips from Melbourne: William Ricketts Sanctuary (in Mount Dandenong), Mock Red Hill (in Red Hill) and Panorama Garden Estate (in Boneo). Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Visiting Buderim Forest Park and Glass House Mountains National Park will get you outdoors. Your inner history buff will appreciate Captain Cook Memorial and Lighthouse and Caboolture Historical Village. Venture out of the city with trips to Maleny (Maleny Dairies, Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, & more), Springbrook (Natural Bridge & Springbrook National Park) and Caloundra (Kings Beach & Bulcock Beach). On the 19th (Fri), enjoy an adventurous day among the treetops at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks. On the 26th (Fri), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Main Range National Park. There's lots more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at David Fleay Wildlife Park, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. John's Anglican Cathedral, explore the wealth of natural beauty at Burleigh Head National Park, and kick back and relax at Greenmount Beach.
