Wollongong, informally referred to as "The Gong", is a seaside city located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Get out of town with these interesting Wollongong side-trips: Kiama Blowhole (in Kiama), Appleshack at Glenbernie Orchard (in Darkes Forest) and Macarthur Park (in Camden). There's still lots to do: learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Symbio Wildlife Park, examine the collection at Illawarra Museum, stroll around Cataract Dam, and pause for some photo ops at Lawrence Hargrave.

Located off of the Great Western Highway, Katoomba is the main hub of the City of Blue Mountains.
Venture out of the city with trips to Jenolan Caves (in Jenolan Caves), Bilpin (Hillbilly Cider & Bilpin Cider Company) and Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum (in Faulconbridge). On the 23rd (Tue), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Perry's Lookdown. Spend the 25th (Thu) exploring nature at Kanangra-Boyd National Park.
