Margaret River

A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Escape the urban bustle at Meelup Beach and Surfers Point. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Hamelin Bay and Yallingup Beach. Explore Margaret River's surroundings by going to Bunker Bay (in Cape Naturaliste), Busselton Jetty (in Busselton) and Yallingup (Ngilgi Cave, Howling Wolves Wines Cellar Door, & more). Spend the 28th (Tue) on a tasty journey with a beer tour and tasting. Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Visiting Greens Pool and Cosy Corner Beach will get you outdoors. We've included these beaches for you: Little Beach and Lowlands Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Albany side-trips: Denmark (Ocean Beach, Forest Hill Vineyard, & more) and Cheynes Beach (in Waychinicup National Park). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at National Anzac Centre, enjoy the sand and surf at Misery Beach, view the masterpieces at Blush Retail Gallery, and explore the wealth of natural beauty at Cable Beach.

Traveling by car from Margaret River to Albany takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of bus and flight. February in Albany sees daily highs of 29°C and lows of 16°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Esperance.

Esperance is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720km east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Esperance Stonehenge and Cindy Poole Glass Gallery. Get outdoors at Cape Le Grand National Park and Thistle Cove. There's much more to do: kick back and relax at Twilight Bay, take some stellar pictures from Observatory Point and Lookout, stroll through Blue Haven Beach, and step off the mainland to explore Woody Island.

Exmouth

Exmouth is a town on the tip of the North West Cape in Western Australia. Escape the urban bustle at Turquoise Bay and Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area. Potshot Memorial and The Ningaloo Gallery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. When in Exmouth, make a side trip to see Ningaloo Marine Park in Coral Bay, approximately 2 hours away. Spend the 15th (Sat) on the water with a fishing tour. There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Ningaloo Reef, enjoy the sand and surf at Wobiri Beach, look for gifts at Exmouth Tackle & Camping Supplies, and relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

Getting from Esperance to Exmouth by flight takes about 6.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. Plan for somewhat warmer temperatures traveling from Esperance in February, with highs in Exmouth at 44°C and lows at 28°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 18th (Tue) so you can travel back home.
