A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.

Located off of the Great Western Highway, Katoomba is the main hub of the City of Blue Mountains.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Katoomba: Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum (in Faulconbridge), Jenolan Caves (in Jenolan Caves) and The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden (in Mount Tomah). There's lots more to do: take in the dramatic scenery at Wentworth Falls, take in nature's colorful creations at Everglades Historic House and Gardens, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Blue Mountains, and indulge your thirst for a good beer at Bilpin Cider Company.
