The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Do some cultural sightseeing at 1934 Qantas Hangar and Darwin Military Museum. Escape the urban bustle at Safaris and Wangi Falls. Get out of town with these interesting Darwin side-trips: Batchelor (Batchelor Butterfly Farm and Pet Garden, Coomalie Cultural Centre, & more), Adelaide River (Adelaide River War Cemetery & Adelaide River Railway Museum) and Litchfield National Park (Magnetic Termite Mounds, Florence Falls, & more). Spend the 21st (Sun) on the water with a fishing tour. Spend the 28th (Sun) exploring nature at Charles Darwin National Park. There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Christ Church Cathedral Darwin, witness a stunning natural landmark at Tjuwaliyn (Douglas) Hot Springs Park, and examine the collection at Chinese Temple and Museum Chung Wah.

Fly from Perth to Darwin in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Perth to Darwin due to the time zone difference.
