A modern metropolis of glassy skyscrapers, waterside boulevards, and lush residential neighborhoods, Perth sits on the edge of the Swan Coastal Plain.
Your inner history buff will appreciate The Fremantle Round House and St. Mary's Cathedral. Explore hidden gems such as Waterskiing & Jetskiing and Rockingham Beach. Change things up with these side-trips from Perth: Mullaloo Beach (in Mullaloo) and South Beach Recreation Reserve (in Fremantle). Isolated and lapped at by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, the town of Kalbarri boasts a picturesque location amid the dunes and sands of westerly Western Australia.
Take a break from the city and head to Kayaking & Canoeing and Chinaman's Beach. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Rainbow Jungle and Kalbarri National Park Coastal Cliffs. Esperance is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720km east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. Step off the beaten path and head to Thistle Cove and Blue Haven Beach. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Twilight Bay and Hellfire Bay. Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Visit Anvil Beach and Lowlands Beach for some beach relaxation. Step off the beaten path and head to Cheynes Beach and Nanarup Beach. Explore Albany's surroundings by going to Denmark (Forest Hill Vineyard, Lights Beach, & more) and Cosy Corner Beach (in Kronkup). There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Emu Point, steep yourself in history at Princess Royal Fortress, take in the dramatic natural features at The Gap and Natural Bridge, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Middleton Beach.
