The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Mindil Beach and Lameroo Beach. Visiting Litchfield National Park and Crocosaurus Cove will get you outdoors. Change things up with these side-trips from Darwin: Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve (in Humpty Doo), Territory Wildlife Park (in Berry Springs) and Litchfield National Park (Buley Rockhole & Florence Falls). Mildura to Darwin is an approximately 10-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Mildura in April, plan for a bit warmer days in Darwin, with highs around 38°C, while nights are warmer with lows around 28°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Wed) early enough to go by car to Adelaide.
