Set against the stark but scenic coastline of the Bass Strait--the body of water separating Victoria and Tasmania--Torquay is a prime location for surfing and beach life in general.
Venture out of the city with trips to Great Ocean Road Memorial Archway (in Lorne) and Split Point Lighthouse (in Aireys Inlet). The adventure continues: explore and take pictures at The Great Ocean Road and kick back and relax at Bells Beach.

For maps, photos, ratings, and tourist information, refer to the Torquay day trip planning website .

Melbourne to Torquay is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 79°F in February, and nighttime lows around 58°F. On the 3rd (Sun), you'll travel back home.
