Nelson Bay is a suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. When in Nelson Bay, make a side trip to see Fighter World in Williamtown, approximately 32 minutes away. There's lots more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Tomaree Head, make a trip to Oakvale Wildlife Park, go for a stroll along the water at D'Albora Marinas, and get great views at Barry Park.

Melbourne to Nelson Bay is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight, train, and bus; or drive. Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Melbourne in August: highs in Nelson Bay hover around 22°C, while lows dip to 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
