Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Wineglass Bay and Denison Beach. We've included these beaches for you: Friendly Beaches and Spiky Beach Conservation Area. Venture out of the city with trips to East Coast Natureworld (in Bicheno) and Swansea (Bark Mill Museum, Melshell Oysters, & more). Spend the 19th (Sat) exploring nature at Freycinet National Park. There's still lots to do: get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, make a trip to Mt Amos Climb, have some family-friendly fun at Freycinet Paintball, and enjoy the sand and surf at Hazards Beach.

Scamander is a small town at the mouth of the Scamander River between St Helens and St Marys on the north-east coast of Tasmania in Australia. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to St Columba Falls Reserve and Eureka Farm. Get outdoors at Fishing Charters & Tours and Cerise Brook Orchard and Family Golf Course. Change things up with these side-trips from Scamander: St Helens (The Shop in the Bush, St Columba Waterfall, & more), Douglas-Apsley National Park (in Bicheno) and Pyengana Dairy (in Pyengana). There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at St Marys Cranks and Tinkerers, view the masterpieces at East Coast Art Supplies & Gallery, go for a walk through Bay of Fires, and play a few rounds at Scamander River Golf Course.
