Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Greens Pool and Little Beach. Visit Cable Beach and Middleton Beach for some beach relaxation. When in Albany, make a side trip to see Cheynes Beach in Waychinicup National Park, approximately 50 minutes away.
