Situated right in the heart of Australia, Alice Springs serves as an urban oasis deep within the country’s parched, desert-like Red Center.
Explore hidden gems such as National Pioneer Women's Hall of Fame & Old Alice Springs Gaol and N'Dhala Gorge Nature Park. Get some historical perspective at Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve and Arltunga Historical Reserve. Spend the 12th (Fri) exploring nature at Owen Springs Reserve. There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Alice Springs Desert Park, take an in-depth tour of Alice Springs School of the Air Visitor Centre, get great views at Anzac Hill, and examine the collection at Road Transport Hall of Fame.

Melbourne to Alice Springs is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Melbourne in July, expect nights in Alice Springs to be about the same, around 3°C, while days are somewhat warmer, around 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
