Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Start off your visit on the 23rd (Tue): view the masterpieces at Design Centre Tasmania, then identify plant and animal life at Cataract Gorge Reserve, then take in the exciting artwork at Tasmanian Copper & Metal Art Gallery, and finally contemplate the long history of Woolmers Estate.

Kick off your visit on the 24th (Wed): look for gifts at Freycinet Marine Farm, then see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour, then walk along Wineglass Bay Lookout, and finally browse the exhibits of Kings Fine Art Gallery.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Thu): steep yourself in history at Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, look for all kinds of wild species at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, and then see the interesting displays at Museum of Old and New Art.

Traveling by car from Coles Bay to Hobart takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. April in Hobart sees daily highs of 21°C and lows of 9°C at night. On the 26th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
