The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Darwin: Batchelor (Litchfield National Park, Nina's Ark Wildlife Sanctuary, & more), Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve (in Humpty Doo) and Berry Springs (Territory Wildlife Park & Crazy Acres). Spend the 2nd (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 8th (Fri) at Darwin Waterfront. There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Defence of Darwin Experience, take in the dramatic natural features at Berry Springs Nature Park, look for all kinds of wild species at Crocosaurus Cove, and take in the waterfront at Darwin Wharf Precinct.

Albury, a major regional city in New South Wales, Australia, is located on the Hume Highway and the northern side of the Murray River. Get out of town with these interesting Albury side-trips: Glenrowan (Morrisons of Glenrowan, Kate's Cottage, & more), Yarrawonga (Fyffe Field Wines, Byramine Homestead, & more) and Falls Creek (Falls Creek Museum & Falls Creek Alpine Resort). Getting from Darwin to Albury by flight takes about 9.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of flight and train; or drive.
