Located off of the Great Western Highway, Katoomba is the main hub of the City of Blue Mountains.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum and Lithgow State Mine Heritage Park. Museum-lovers will appreciate Valley Heights Locomotive Depot Heritage Museum and Blue Mountains Cultural Centre. Explore Katoomba's surroundings by going to Jenolan Caves (in Jenolan Caves) and Lithgow (Blackfellows Hand Cave & Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum). On the 19th (Fri), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Perry's Lookdown. Make the 21st (Sun) a memorable day with a climbing tour. Wollongong, informally referred to as "The Gong", is a seaside city located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Get outdoors at Bendalong Beach and Nelson Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Wollongong side-trips: Jervis Bay National Park (in Jervis Bay), Minnamurra Falls (in Jamberoo) and The Grape Escape (in Mittagong). Named after Lord Byron's grandfather, Byron Bay is not only famous as the easternmost point of Australia, but even more so as one of the liveliest vacation spots in the country.
We've included these beaches for you: Pippi Beach and Belongil Beach. Cape Byron Lighthouse and Fingal Head Lighthouse are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Byron Bay: Yamba Museum (in Yamba), Hastings Point Headland (in Hastings Point) and Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre (in Murwillumbah). Spend the 10th (Sat) exploring nature at Arakwal National Park.
