Named after Lord Byron's grandfather, Byron Bay is not only famous as the easternmost point of Australia, but even more so as one of the liveliest vacation spots in the country.
Step out of the city life by going to Main Beach Yamba and Lennox Head Beach. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Dolphin & Whale Watching and Spooky Beach. Change things up with a short trip to Turners Beach in Yamba (about 1h 45 min away). The adventure continues: sample the tasty concoctions at Stone and Wood Brewery, visit a coastal fixture at Cape Byron Lighthouse, glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, and enjoy the sand and surf at Broken Head Beach.
