Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Hobart: Tasmanian Devil Unzoo (in Taranna), Port Arthur (Port Arthur Historic Site & Three Capes Track) and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (in Brighton). On the 26th (Tue), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. There's still lots to do: take in the awesome beauty at Mount Wellington, get a taste of the local shopping with Salamanca Market, steep yourself in history at Hobart Convict Penitentiary, and admire the natural beauty at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.

For where to stay, more things to do, other places to visit, and other tourist information, refer to the Hobart visit website .

Sydney to Hobart is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train, ferry, and bus; or do a combination of bus and ferry. Traveling from Sydney in November, things will get slightly colder in Hobart: highs are around 22°C and lows about 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 30th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
