A city of towering skyscrapers, sandy beaches, and tree-lined streets, Gold Coast has an unpretentious air complemented by a citywide focus on sports and the arts.
Head to Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre and Robina Town Shopping Centrefor plenty of shopping. Take a break from the city and head to Belongil Beach and Burleigh Head National Park. Venture out of the city with trips to Byron Bay (Cape Byron Walking Track & Stand-Up Paddleboarding). It doesn't end there: enjoy the sand and surf at Kirra Beach and stroll through Burleigh Heads Beach.

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
On the 28th (Sun), look for all kinds of wild species at Birdworld Kuranda, identify plant and animal life at Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, then kick back and relax at Trinity Beach, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Palm Cove Beach. On the 29th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour.

You can fly from Gold Coast to Cairns in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and flight; or drive. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Gold Coast in July, with highs in Cairns at 30°C and lows at 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Mon) so you can take a bus to Port Douglas.

On the 30th (Tue), explore the gorgeous colors at Agincourt Reef, identify plant and animal life at Mossman Gorge, and then hit the best photo ops around with an inspiring photography tour. Keep things going the next day: look for all kinds of wild species at Daintree National Park.
