Kick off your visit on the 12th (Mon): take in panoramic vistas at SkyPoint Climb, kick back and relax at Burleigh Heads Beach, and then find something for the whole family at Sling Shot & Vomatron Amusement Rides Gold Coast. On your second day here, tour the pleasant surroundings at Kirra Beach, then kick back and relax at Coolangatta Beach, and then explore the striking landscape of Burleigh Head National Park.

Once just a small port at the mouth of Mooloolah River, Mooloolaba is now a hotbed of tourism and a place more than worth adding to your Sunshine Coast itinerary.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Wed): kick back and relax at Mooloolaba Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at Kings Beach, and then delve into the lush surroundings at Buderim Forest Park.

Getting from Gold Coast to Mooloolaba by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Expect a daytime high around 25°C in August, and nighttime lows around 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 14th (Wed) so you can travel to Cairns.

Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Historic Village Herberton and Doongal Aboriginal Art Gallery Cairns. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Atherton Tablelands and Australian Butterfly Sanctuary. Step out of Cairns with an excursion to Birdworld Kuranda in Kuranda--about 40 minutes away. Traveling by flight from Mooloolaba to Cairns takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. In August, Cairns is somewhat warmer than Mooloolaba - with highs of 31°C and lows of 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a bus to Port Douglas.
