Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Thu): examine the collection at National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, then look for all kinds of wild species at Tamar Island Wetlands, and then admire the verdant scenery at The Tamar Valley. On your second day here, explore the world behind art at Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery, meet the residents at Seahorse World, then look for all kinds of wild species at Platypus House, then explore the galleries of Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre, and finally do a tasting at Holm Oak Vineyards.
