Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Sun): identify plant and animal life at Platypus House, look for gifts at Goaty Hill Wines, then appreciate the views at The Tamar Valley, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Lilydale Falls. Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
On the 6th (Tue), let little ones run wild at Melshell Oyster Shack, then view the masterpieces at Kings Fine Art Gallery, and then look for all kinds of wild species at Freycinet National Park. On your second day here, identify plant and animal life at East Coast Natureworld, look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas, and then don't miss a visit to Bicheno Blowhole.
