Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Step off the beaten path and head to Maria Island National Park and Sullivans Cove. Do some cultural sightseeing at Puddleduck Vineyard and North Hobart. Change things up with these side-trips from Hobart: Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (in Brighton) and St John the Baptist Chuch (in Buckland). Next up on the itinerary: stroll through Seven Mile Beach and admire the masterpieces at Lady Franklin Gallery.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Devil's Corner Cellar Door and Cape Tourville Lighthouse. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Spring Vale Wines and Gala Estate Vineyard. Spend the 16th (Tue) exploring nature at Freycinet National Park. There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Friendly Beaches, stroll through Wineglass Bay, and trek along Wineglass Bay Lookout.
