Set against the stark but scenic coastline of the Bass Strait--the body of water separating Victoria and Tasmania--Torquay is a prime location for surfing and beach life in general.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and Cape Schanck Lighthouse. We've included these beaches for you: Bells Beach and Cape Woolamai Beach. Change things up with these side-trips from Torquay: National Vietnam Veterans Museum (in Newhaven), The Nobbies Centre (in Summerlands) and Cowes (Koala Conservation Centre & Cowes Beach). Make the 8th (Sun) an awe-inspiring day at Lorne Beach. There's still lots to do: indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, do a tasting at Phillip Island Winery, take in the dramatic scenery at Erskine Falls, and make a trip to The Lorne Pier.

If you are flying in from Singapore, the closest major airport is Melbourne International Airport. December in Torquay sees daily highs of 29°C and lows of 13°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
