George Town is a large town in north-east Tasmania, on the eastern bank of the mouth of the Tamar River. Start off your visit on the 10th (Sun): take an in-depth tour of Bass Strait Maritime Centre, then examine the collection at Don River Railway, and then do a tasting at Ghost Rock Tasmania. Keep things going the next day: browse the exhibits of Tamar Valley Art Shack, learn about winemaking at Holm Oak Vineyards, then enjoy the sea views from The Low Head Lighthouse, then learn about all things military at Low Head Pilot Station Maritime Museum, and finally see the interesting displays at Bass & Flinders Centre.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Tasmanian Wool Centre. and Waubs Bay Gallery will appeal to museum buffs. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Cape Tourville Lighthouse and Devil's Corner Cellar Door. Explore Coles Bay's surroundings by going to Melshell Oysters (in Swansea) and St Marys (St Marys Cranks and Tinkerers, Gone Rustic Studio and Gallery, & more).
