Brisbane to Launceston is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of car and ferry. In April, Launceston is a bit cooler than Brisbane - with highs of 20°C and lows of 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Coles Bay.

Coles Bay

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Sun): see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour, visit a coastal fixture at Cape Tourville Lighthouse, and then explore and take pictures at Wineglass Bay Lookout. Here are some ideas for day two: do a tasting at Gala Estate Vineyard, then snap pictures at Spiky Bridge, then do a tasting at Devil's Corner Cellar Door, and finally get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour.

You can drive from Coles Bay to Port Arthur in 3.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. In April, plan for daily highs up to 21°C, and evening lows to 9°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Hobart.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Museum of Old and New Art and Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Salamanca Market and Henry Jones Design Gallery. Take a break from Hobart with a short trip to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton, about 30 minutes away. There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, explore the galleries of Richmond Gaol, kick back and relax at Seven Mile Beach, and take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington.
