Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
On the 15th (Mon), look for all kinds of wild species at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, then see the interesting displays at Mona, then enjoy the sand and surf at Bellerive Beach, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington. Here are some ideas for day two: browse the different shops at Cat and Fiddle Arcade, kick back and relax at Long Beach, then steep yourself in history at Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, and finally kick back and relax at Seven Mile Beach.

Start off your visit on the 18th (Thu): learn about winemaking at Gala Estate Vineyard, identify plant and animal life at Friendly Beaches, and then take a leisurely stroll along Coles Bay Jetty.
