Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Tue): sample the tasty concoctions at Cascade Brewery, take a leisurely stroll along Constitution Dock, then examine the collection at Mawson's Hut Replica Museum, and finally wander the streets of North Hobart. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at Richmond Gaol and then examine the collection at Mona.
