Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
On the 25th (Sun), look for all kinds of wild species at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, admire the natural beauty at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Long Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: examine the collection at Mona, then kick back and relax at Bellerive Beach, and then head off the coast to Macquarie Island.

You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Wineglass Bay Lookout and Freycinet National Park. Visiting Friendly Beaches and Honeymoon Bay will get you outdoors.
